Obituary: Delbert W. Curtis

Delbert Wells Curtis, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2003 at age 85.

Delbert was born in Payson, Utah on May 28, 1918 to Asa and Annie Littlewood Curtis. He married Helen Brown on December 7, 1946 in Evanston, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemnized April 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they have celebrated 56 years of marriage.

He was very active in the LDS church. He was a temple worker, in the ward choir, and was always involved in missionary efforts. When he was younger he served a mission in New Zealand.

Delbert worked most of his life as a heavy duty mechanic in the construction industry. He worked for several companies in the area. He also spent time working with stained glass. He was an author, and was proud of having written a book. He was a fisherman for many years, a gardener, and was a beautiful singer. He always had a project he was engaged in.

Delbert was filled with love for his family and was a great example to them. He was kind, honest, hardworking, good natured and quick to laugh.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife;

two daughters: Carolyn (Lynn) Hutchings, of Highland, Utah; and Marilyn (Bernie) Caracena, of Baggs, Wyoming;

six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mildred (Max) Warner, of Payson, Utah; and Helen Mountford, of St. George, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mathew; two brothers, and three sisters.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 18, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Park 4th Ward Chapel, 50 South 750 West, Orem, Utah under the direction of Walker Funeral Home. A viewing will be held at the Chapel on Thursday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Salem City Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion.
