Obituary: Irene Hayes

Lillian "Irene" Buckley Hayes, age 69, of Alpine, Utah, died Sept. 16, 2003 at her home of cancer.

She was born June 5, 1934 in Brookhaven, Mississippi to Patrick Henry and Bettie Lillian Britt Buckley. Married Gary Edward Hayes, Feb. 16, 1957 in Provo, Utah. Marriage latter solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Irene had a natural talent for seeing all beauties in life and helping her family to enjoy the beautiful things around them. She especially loved her grandchildren and flowers. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served for 25 years in the youth programs. She seemed to shine in her calling as compassionate service leader in the Relief Society. She also served as an ordinance worker in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple for four years. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Survived by her husband, Gary of Alpine; sons and daughters, Scott (Colleen) Hayes, Cedar Hills; Mark (Haley) Hayes, Todd Rex Hayes, and Deborah (Brian) Dowd, all of Alpine; Alison (Garon) Larsen, Lehi; 13 grandchildren; sister, Norma Jean (Cecil) Hoover, LaPlace, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, LaVelle Diffrient and brother, Arnold Buckley.

Funeral, Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Alpine North Stake Center, 1125 N. Alpine Blvd., where friends and family may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and also Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment in the Alpine City Cemetery. Funeral Directors, Wing Mortuary.
