Obituary: Elizabeth Kynaston Durtschi

"Together Again"

Elizabeth was born June 21, 1919 to Alma and Emily Pearl Smith Kynaston in Hooper, Utah.

She was the fifth of six children. She passed away Sunday, September 14, 2003. She married Ernest F. Durtschi October 22, 1936. They were the parents of two daughters, Elise (Don) Tittle, Orem, UT; and Emily Kay (Steve) Fail, Sandy, UT.

Elizabeth's bonus in life was being Grandma "Mamie" to five grandsons: David Duff (Sherry) Tittle, Matthew D. (Tanna) Tittle, Ryan S. Fail, Chad C. (fiancé Kairi Rushton) Fail, Elder Jeff M. Fail (Argentina); and Great-Grandma to nine: Elisa, Sydney, Mallory, Brett, Lauren, Savannah, Damon, McKay and Casey. Family was Elizabeth's life and her joy! "Grandma was her name, and spoiling was her game," and she did an excellent job! Elizabeth left a legacy of motherly love and sweet memories. She was known as a giving and caring person. She loved people!

Elizabeth loved the Lord, and she appreciated and enjoyed His beautiful world. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was proud of her missionary grandchildren.

"Mamie" loved flowers and her garden. She was a self-taught seamstress. She loved to travel, read, do crossword puzzles, get into family "Scrabble" marathons, and tap her toes every weekend to the music of Lawrence Welk. Most of all, she enjoyed family and any family

gatherings.

Survived by her children; grandchildren; and one sister, Pearl K. Hilton. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Orvil, Elgin and Alden; and one sister, Olive K. Day.

In honor of our special Mamie, funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, with a viewing Sunday evening, from 6 to 8 p.m., and at 11 a.m. prior to the service on Monday. Burial in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Mamie loved to go out to eat; in lieu of flowers, you might consider taking someone you love out to lunch.
