Two suspects in a string of southern Utah robberies were arrested near Kanab after a high-speed chase and an 11-hour foot chase.
A Kanab police officer noticed the two, an 18-year-old male and a 17-year-old female, leaving a store in a truck with no lights at 4:30 a.m. Thursday. When the officer tried to stop the truck, it fled on U.S. 89. Eventually, speeds exceeded 100 mph, until the truck ran off the highway and rolled several times.
After the accident, the two fled the scene on foot and were able to elude a search team , which included members of the Kane County Special Response Team, K-9 units from the Utah Highway Patrol, and a helicopter from the Arizona Department of Safety, for almost 11 hours.
When finally caught, the two had only minor injuries. The truck was stolen from Cedar City on Wednesday, and it is suspected that they were responsible for a number of thefts in the area.
