First-year Southern Utah University football coach Gary Andersen will remember is his game with the T-Birds as the game that got away.
The T-Birds missed two field goals and had the tying extra-point blocked with just over three minutes left before losing to Nevada-Reno of the Western Athletic Conference, 24- 23 Saturday night in Reno.
Early in the fourth quarter the T-Birds pulled inside the Wolf Pack 5-yard line but came up empty after Steve Pulver missed a 23-yard field goal.
A Nevada turnover put the T-Birds inside the 30 but SUU couldn't move the ball offensively. QB Ryan Zimmerman, who took over for starter Casey Rehrer, guided both drives but the T-Birds couldn't score any points.
Rehrer later returned in SUU's drive that pulled the T-Birds to within a point on an 11- yard pass to Wes Patterson, but the kick to tie the game was blocked.
