MIDVALE — A celebration of Central American culture is set for Friday in Midvale.
Utah's first Grand Festival of the Independence of Central America will feature folk dance performances, Central American cuisine, art exhibits, live bands and more at Midvale City Park, 7500 S. 450 West.
All are invited to taste and experience the cultures of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
Activities will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is free.
Salvadorans will have the opportunity to reregister for temporary protected status, granted to Salvadorans in the United States after the January 2001 earthquake destroyed about one-third of their country's infrastructure.
