Obituary: Jay R. Gamette

1939 ~ 2003

Jay Gamette, 63, Highland, Utah passed away Saturday, Aug 30, 2003, peacefully, having returned from the Milwaukee Wisconsin Mission to battle cancer.

Jay was born Nov 10, 1939 to Don V and Ruth Robbins Gamette in Lehi, UT. He married Leontine Carter Feb 25, 1959 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Jay graduated from Orem High School and Brigham Young University. He was employed 34 years as a pharmaceutical sales rep. He was well respected by his customers, peers, and company management.

Jay was totally dedicated to his sweetheart of 44 years and everything he did was with her welfare in mind. He devoted his whole life to his family and loved spending time with them. His grandchildren were the love of his life. He always fostered family togetherness and family traditions. He eagerly celebrated milestones in everyone's lives.

Jay had a great testimony of service. He was constantly serving his parents, the elderly, the single sisters, the community, family and church. He was an active member and held numerous positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his wife; children, Jill (Jordan) Day, Marilee (Douglas) Bassett, Shari (David) Iverson, Natalie (Michael) Barron, Matthew (Nicole) Gamette, Andrea (Robert) Crawley; 18 grandchildren; mother; brothers, Kent, Leland Gamette; and sister, Luann March.

Services will be Wed. Sept 3, 2003, 11 a.m. Highland LDS 14th Ward Chapel, 10400 N. 6000 W, Highland, UT. Friends may call Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 N, Orem, UT Tues. 6-8 p.m. or at the church Wed. two hours prior to the service. Interment, Highland City Cemetery.
