Much has been said about why African-Americans and Hispanics are the majority population in the prison system. Could one reason be biased judges?
An 18 1/2-year-old African-American male friend of ours was just sentenced by Judge J. Dennis Frederick, Utah Third District Court, for a crime. The Parole Board recommended a program, but Judge Fredericks was very ruthless in his sentencing and imposed a five years-to-life (the maximum sentence) in the Utah State Prison.
Is this justice? Sounds more like legalized public lynching to me.
