Obituary: Paul Ephriam Valgardson

1918 ~ 2003

Paul Ephriam Valgardson, 84, passed away in Provo, Utah, September 18, 2003.

Paul was born to Ephriam and Sarah Peterson Valgardson Nov 25, 1918 in Spanish Fork, UT. His mother died two days later and Paul and his sister were raised by his aunt and uncle, Christine and Gisele Bearnson along with their family of 10 children. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II where he was wounded several times on the island of Saipan in the Pacific theatre. He was active for 50 years in the Disabled American Veter-ans organizations holding many positions.

Paul married Florence Marie Davis on March 9, 1946. They had seven children. He was preceded in death by daughters, Sara Lee, and Mary. Paul established Valgardson House Moving in 1948. He was a longtime member of the Provo 13th LDS Ward.

Survivors include his wife, Florence; sons, Richard (Sheila), Ray (Bonnie), Bill (Gloria), David (Michelle), Provo, Don (Debbie), Lindon; son-in-law, Fred McEwan, Orem; sisters, Bertha Johnson, Salt Lake City, Elva Levanger, Geraldine Smith, Sherman (Beverly) Bearnson, Norma (Weston) Jones, Spanish Fork; 26 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Sarah Ellen Hanks, Fay Bearnson, Wilma Harmer, Mildred Hall, Bernice Bearnson, Hannah Valgardson, and Perry Gilbert.

Services will be Wed. Sept 24, 2003, 11 a.m. Provo 13th Ward Chapel, 965 N. Locust Lane (1300 E), Provo. Friends may call Tues. 6-8 p.m. Berg Mortuary, Provo, 185 E. Center St, and Wed. at the church 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Provo City Cemetery. Military rites presented by the Disabled Ame-rican Veterans, Unit 6, Salt Lake City.
