1957 ~ 2003
- Daniel Joseph Franks, 46, died at his home in Tremonton September 19, 2003, surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born Jan 17, 1957 in Brooklyn, NY the son of Donald and Virginia Leonard Franks. He was the eldest of seven children.
Dan moved west after high school to "make his fortune." His first job was in Evanston, WY in the oil fields. In 1980, in that wild western town, he met his equally wild and wonderful wife, Martha Taylor. They married June 20, 1981 in Tremonton. They moved to Tremonton after the birth of their son, Charles Joseph Franks, 1983. Their daughter Danielle Virginia Franks was born in 1986. He was very proud of both of his children and all of their accomplishments.
Dan decided that becoming a farm-er was safer than being a roughneck in the oil fields of Wyoming. Even though he was not born to the land and was not of the west, he was a natural. Dan became a student and then a teacher of ancient Native Americans and their culture. He spent many hours researching their lives. Dan was a hockey fanatic and he loved watching all sports. He could talk to anyone about any sport. He was an avid outdoorsman. Dan was interested in talking to people and always made them feel special. Dan loved children and they loved him because he was a kid at heart.
His wife, Martha, Tremonton; son, Charles; daughter, Danielle; parents; five brothers; and sister, all from Long Island, New York Island, survive Dan. He will be dearly missed by many of his friends and family.
