Critic's view is narrow'

Movie reviewer Jeff Vice wants to believe the worst about the Catholic Church ("'Magdalene Sisters' pulls no punches"). He writes that the film is "not an anti-Catholic screed" but rather an "extremely powerful character study." However, the "powerful character study" in the film consists of a cast of embittered and cruel nuns and the young girls at their mercy. Judging from my own experience with Roman Catholic nuns, I know this is not your typical nun. Clearly, the film is a one-sided portrayal of a worst-case scenario. It's a shame Vice chooses not to see this.
