Fewer hotel rooms were occupied in Salt Lake City and across Utah in August compared to the same month a year ago, according to the Rocky Mountain Lodging Report.
For August, 68.3 percent of rooms in the state were filled compared to 70.8 percent a year earlier.
In Salt Lake City, 66.7 percent of rooms were occupied compared to 69.3 percent last year.
Statewide, the average room rate was $70.36 for the month, down from $72.08 a year ago.
In Salt Lake City, the average room rate stood at $72.32, down from $75.15 last year.
