Usana Health Sciences Inc. said Tuesday it has increased its expectations for third-quarter earnings per share.
The company expects EPS to be about 54 cents. Three cents of that would be due to an adjustment in the effective tax rate for 2003. The expectation is up from the earlier range of 43 cents to 45 cents.
The Salt Lake-based company said sales would be in line with the company's earlier forecast of $52 million.
The company will announce third-quarter earnings Oct. 14.
Usana develops and manufactures direct-sales nutritionals, personal care and weight management products.
Usana stock jumped $5.35, or more than 11 percent, to close at a new 52-week high of $52.15 per share Tuesday on Nasdaq.
