Obituary: LaVerl Staker Cook

LaVerl Staker Cook, 76, of Shelley, Idaho passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2003 in American Fork, Utah.

She was born December 14, 1926 in Newdale, Idaho to Verl LeRoy and Nellie Bertha Brower Staker. She married Wayne Cook on March 17, 1957 in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple.

LaVerl grew up in the Teton area and later moved to Idaho Falls where she graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1944. She was an accomplished violinist and enjoyed singing, reading, and will be remembered as an excellent cook.

She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. In her youth, she served a mission to the Southern States.

She is survived by three children: Linda Marie Warnick, Alpine, Utah; Michael Ray Cook, Midvale, Utah; Reed Wayne Cook;

and 12 grandchildren. Additional survivors include siblings: Lila Lee Clayson, Goshen, Idaho; Theda Belle Peterson, Spanish Fork, Utah; and Doyle (Cecile) Staker, Idaho Falls, Idaho.

LaVerl was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; and her

parents.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 27, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery in Shelley, Idaho. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah.
