WENDOVER — Ogden's Jimmy Blair captured the Utah Section PGA Championship Wednesday at Toana Vista Golf Course with a four-shot victory over Steve Schneiter and Matt Johnson.
The 48-year-old Blair, who previously won the Section title in 1989, fired a second-round 66 to go with his first-round 67 for a 133 total.
Schneiter, who led after the first round with a 66, shot a 71 Wednesday.
Johnson, the 2001 champion, had rounds of 68 and 69.
Three players, Craig Sarlo, Troy Watkins and Ryan Rhees, tied for fourth at 139, while Roy Christensen, Scott Brandt and Mark Owen came in at 140. Defending champion Henry White and Tom Costello tied at 141.
Host pro Reid Goodliffe won the senior division with a 137 total, playing from slightly shorter tees. First-day leader Jeff Jerman and Christensen, who competed in both divisions, tied for second at 140.
Blair won a first-place check of $4,200 in the tournament sponsored by Peppermill Rainbow and Montego Bay Casinos.
UGA CHAMPIONS: Corey Matthews won the UGA Tournament of Champions at Wolf Creek Resort in Eden by sinking a 10-foot uphill putt on the first playoff over University of Utah golfer Nick Micek. Both players shot duplicate rounds of even-par 144.
In the Club Champions Division, Steve Poulson won a playoff over Tommy Sharp by sinking a birdie putt on the second playoff hole. They were tied at the end of the 36-hole regulation tournament with 2-over-par 144s.
Steve Watts won the Senior Division with scores of 72- 75-147, while Annette Gaiotti won the Women's Division with rounds of 78-85.
