2 stabbing victims improve; man sought

Two men stabbed in a Salt Lake street fight were recovering in local hospitals Thursday.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday, two vehicles came to a stop at 750 South and 1300 West. At that point, an unknown number of people got out of the cars and began fighting. The confrontation left the two acquaintances, who had gotten out of the same car, seriously injured, Salt Lake Police Lt. Sandra Urry said.

One man was transported to LDS Hospital in critical but stable condition. Thursday his condition improved to serious. Another man went to University Hospital in serious condition. His condition was upgraded to fair Thursday, Salt Lake police detective Kevin Joiner said.

Police are investigating whether the fight is gang-related and put out an attempt-to-locate broadcast for a possible suspect. He is described as Hispanic, wearing a red sports jersey with the No. 5 on the back, and he left in a mid-1990s model red Mitsubishi Eclipse with either Washington or Nevada plates.
