Obituary: Lisa McCombs Quilter

1969 ~ 2003

Lisa McCombs Quilter, beloved daughter, sister and aunt, died on September 24, 2003 in Salt Lake City. She was a kind and humorous person who loved her family and friends.

Lisa was born on June 10, 1969 in Merced, California where she was raised and educated. She attended BYU Provo and Hawaii campuses, and studied abroad in Israel. She worked as a health volunteer in South America with the Los Amigos Program.

In 1991 she served in the Paraguay, Asuncion Mission, where she touched the hearts and souls of many. Married in 1993, later divorced. In 1995 she graduated from the University of Utah with a BA in Psychology. For the last seven years she worked as a flight attendant for United Airlines. Her passing creates an unfathomable void in our hearts. Lisa loved her family, nieces, nephews and friends who all loved her and will miss her greatly.

She leaves behind her father Dr. Rey H. McCombs (Laura Lee) serving in the Salt Lake City Temple Square Mission; mother Eva McCombs of Merced, Calif.; sister Marilyn Pettit (Scott) of Maple Valley, WA; sister Dr. Kathleen McCombs of Salt Lake City; brother Dr. Ronald McCombs (Robin) of Puyallup, WA; sister Carol Nelson (Rick) of Salt Lake City; and 11 nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Monday, September 29, 2003, at the Cottonwood 3rd Ward Chapel, 6301 S. 2300 E., at 12 noon. Friends and family may visit Sunday evening at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, from 6 to 8 p.m., and Monday from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2003, 10 a.m., in the Afton City Cemetery, at the McCombs' family plot, in Afton, Wyoming.
