Utah's best to golf vs. Arizona

Top amateur golfers from Utah and Arizona will square off Monday and Tuesday in the 13th annual Utah-Arizona Shootout at the Glenwild Golf club near Park City.

Twelve golfers from each state will compete in a Ryder Cup-style tournament.

Utah's team is led by Doug Bybee and Ryan Job, who are each playing in their seventh Shootout and Steve Poulson, who is playing in his sixth.

Others on the Utah side include State Amateur champion Tommy Sharp, Pete Stone, Marty Jacks, Corey Matthews and Kirk Siddens. The two senior golfers are Doug Marriott and John Taylor, while Sue Nyhus and Tenille Howe are the women on the team.

The two teams will compete in a four-ball (best ball) competition Monday morning, with foursomes (alternating shots) in the afternoon. Then on Tuesday afternoon, teams will compete in 12 individual matches. Three points are possible in each match, with one point for each nine and one for the 18 holes.
