Obituary: Verge Thompson

1921 ~ 2003

WALLSBURG <! > - Our beloved brother, uncle and friend, Verge "Dick" Thompson, age 82, returned to our Heavenly Father on Friday, September 26, 2003, at home peacefully with his family.

Born in the Thompson family home in Wallsburg on May 16, 1921 to John and Maude Sabey Thompson. He was an active farmer and rancher all his life and was happiest when he was following his herd on a good horse. In his later years he traded the horse for his four-wheeler, the "Hupi." His favorite times were spent out of doors hunting, fishing and snowmobiling, always with lots of friends and family. He welcomed company and enjoyed a good visit any time.

Verge is survived by one brother, Jim (Nellie) Thompson; one sister, Dora Thompson Daley; a special nephew, Dennis Daley; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was welcomed to his Heavenly Home by his parents; his sisters, Alice Barter and Dorothy Brimhall; and his brothers Clarence and Johnny Thompson.

The family wishes to thank Dennis and Diane Daley, their children, Doug, Lori and Chad, and their spouses for the countless hours of service rendered in love and care. They also wish to thank the IHC hospice nurses for the compassionate way they treated Verge in his final weeks.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 29, at 12 Noon in the Wallsburg LDS Chapel. Friends may call on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home in Heber City and on Monday at the church from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will follow in the Wallsburg Cemetery.
