Elk Ridge may zap apartment fees

ELK RIDGE — Elk Ridge leaders may follow Santaquin in doing away with impact fees for accessory apartments.

The Planning Commission will consider on Thursday how to eliminate the fees in the city ordinance without eliminating the regulations.

The City Council kicked the issue back to the Planning Commission recently after deciding the fees should be eliminated, said City Recorder Jan Davis.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in City Hall, 80 E. Park Drive.

Santaquin recently abandoned impact fees to build the apartments as long as the owner also resides in the building. Both Provo and Orem have tightened their accessory apartment regulations.
