Anne Elizabeth Mark, 84, passed away of causes incident to age, September 27, 2003 at Christus St.

Joseph's Villa in Salt Lake City.

Anne was born August 18, 1919 to John and Elena Leone in Trenton, New Jersey. During World War II, she worked in the medical records department at Ft. Dix, NJ, where she met A.S. "Tuffy" Mark. Upon his return from the war in Europe they were married in June, 1946.

After coming to Salt Lake City, her family and her involvement in the Catholic Church were her two passions. Though she and Tuffy had only one son, their devotion to him was well known, and greatly appreciated. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life.

Anne worked on many committees and on numerous projects for her long-time parish of St. Therese's in Midvale. She also served on the Board of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women for nine years, finishing her time there as its president. She was a member of the National Council of Catholic Women, and a member of the Catholic Women's League. In 1988 she was awarded the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice medal by Pope John Paul II for her many years of service to the Catholic Church. At the time of her passing, she was a member of St. Vincent's parish in Holladay.

In addition to her church work, Anne was a lifetime volunteer at Holy Cross Hospital where she eventually became president of the Holy Cross Auxiliary. She also served as president of the Utah State Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by her son, Jack (Anne), grandsons Alex and Andrew of Salt Lake City; grandson Christopher (Michelle), great-grandchildren Sharice and Michael, Sandy; brother Joseph Leone (Frances) Newtown, PA; sister Edith Campopiano, Cherry Hill, NJ; sister Rose Russell (Ed), Anaheim, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.S. "Tuffy" Mark, brothers, John Leone and D. Robert Leone, and sister, Splendora Leone.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Thursday, October 2, 2003 at 8:00 p.m. at, St. Vincent Catholic Church, 1375 East Spring Lane, Holladay where friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Friday, October 3, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent Catholic Church. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary cemetery, Salt Lake City. A celebration of her life will follow at the Alta Club, 100 E. South Temple.

The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of the Ambrose Wing at the Christus St. Joseph's Villa for the marvelous care and support they provided, and also to the family of Karen and Barry Nash.
