WEST JORDAN — A 57-year-old woman was arrested Monday afternoon while protesting at West Hills Middle School.
The woman was arrested for investigation of disorderly conduct and failure to comply with a lawful command of a police officer, both misdemeanor offenses if convicted, West Jordan Police Capt. Gary Cox said.
The woman, apparently the grandmother of a student, was released on a citation and is to appear in court within 14 days on the charges, Cox said.
Parents, relatives and friends gathered in front of the school about 2:30 p.m. Monday to protest recent disciplinary actions against some students, Cox said.
The Jordan School District cannot discuss specifics about the incident, said school district spokesman Michael Kelley.
