A 49-year-old woman has been charged in 3rd District Court with three counts of child endangerment and possession of a controlled substance after detectives found marijuana and cocaine in a house occupied by the woman, two teens and an infant.
On Aug. 25, police went to a house near 800 South and 800 West after complaints of drug use and sales. The odor of burnt marijuana was strong throughout the house, especially in the 17-year-old girl's bedroom, according to police. Officers found her lying on her bed with her baby, born in April. Officers believe the girl hid a marijuana pipe from them, charges state.
In another bedroom they found marijuana, seeds and a pipe. An ion scan showed the presence of cocaine on the baby's swing, chair and crib railing, according to police.
Endangerment of a child is a third-degree felony; possession of a controlled substance is a class A misdemeanor.
