POINT OF THE MOUNTAIN — The Utah County Sheriff's Office believes mechanical failure was to blame for a crash this week of a hang glider.
The unidentified 28-year-old Utah County man who was operating the glider was airlifted to University Hospital for treatment of injuries, Utah County Ssheriff's deputy Dennis Chapman said.
Shortly before 10:30 a.m. Monday, the man launched from a mountain east of the Draper hang gliding park. As he headed into the south wind, the man could not turn the glider to the left or right. He could only raise the hang glider's nose and eventually crashed to the ground, Chapman said.
The man's condition was not released, but he was conscious and alert before he was transported, Chapman said.
