LDS community 'backbone' of event

KENT, Wash. — Members of the Church here for the third year in a row volunteered to help run the dragon boat races this July as part of the Kent (Wash.) Cornucopia Days. Some 75 members of the Kent 6th Ward, Kent 9th Singles Branch and the Auburn 1st Ward helped make the third annual Kent Lion's Club family event a success. The volunteers were time keepers, referees, dock workers and starters, among many other tasks.

"The Church volunteers are the backbone of the dragon boat race event," said Cheryl Corbin, event director and a Church volunteer.
