Obituary: Don Alma Day

1926 ~ 2003

Don Alma Day, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, returned to Heavenly Father September 6, 2003 at age 77. Don passed away with his loving family at his side.

He was born Feb 6, 1926 in Salt Lake City to Perry Arlington and LaPriel Findlay Day. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He met his wife, Gladys W. Bradley, while stationed in Yorktown, VA. They were married March 19, 1946; their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, 1951.

Don worked for LDS Hospital, the U.S. Postal Service, various car dealerships, and later in life he enjoyed working as a crossing guard in Sandy. Don's hobbies included fishing, bird watching, reading, being a softball grandpa, woodcarving, and spending time with family.

Don is survived by his sweetheart, Gladys; children, John (Jenene) Day, Gladys "Hap" (Steve) Bradley, Alma "Brad" (Jackie) Day, Deborah (Dave) Matson; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, with two on the way; sister, Arla Sauer; and beloved pets, Sammy, Shadow. Preceded in death by daughter, Constance Marie Peterson;, and sister, Raema Hunsaker.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Harmony Hospice for the loving care, especially to Michelle, Rudy, and granddaughter, Brooke, for always being there.

Services Tues. Sept 9, 2003, 12 noon, Sandy LDS 13th Ward chapel, 586 E. 8400 S. Friends and family may call Mon. 6-8 p.m. McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd, and Tues. at the church, 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
