Obituary: Heber Cottam Bishop

1924 ~ 2003

Beloved Husband

and Father

Heber C. Bishop, 78, returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father September 4, 2003. He passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the love of his family.

He was born Nov 20, 1924 in Salt Lake City to Ralph and Alice Cottam Bishop. He attended West High and served in the U.S. Navy dur-ing World War II. He met his wife, Kerma Cazier, while stationed at Treasure Island, CA. They were married March 16, 1945. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple.

He served as mission president in Sacramento, CA, and High Priest Group Leader. But his favorite calling was serving with his wife in the Jordan River LDS Temple, South Jordan, UT.

Heber, also known as "Bish" to his friends, was an avid golfer, excellent gardener, and enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies. He always liked to take on a new challenge.

Heber was generous and caring. His kindness affected many lives for the better, and he will be remembered by all who knew him for his fun-loving, warm heart.

Heber is survived by his beloved companion, Kerma; children, Susan Cardwell (Thorston Bradsher), Bryan (Linda) Bishop, Barbara (Kim) Norris, Julie (Mark) Ford; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Hospice for Utah for their loving care. They would especially like to thank Ann Dowdy, who shared her extraordinary talents by providing soothing musical experiences with her harp.

Services Tues. Sept 9, 2003, 12 noon Cottonwood LDS 11th Ward chapel, 1830 E. 6400 S. Friends and family may call Mon. 6-8 p.m. Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Dr, or Tues. at the church 10:45-11:45 prior to services. Entombment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
