VANCOUVER, B.C. — With just six years and 162 days to go, Vancouver, B.C., had its first meetings with the International Olympic Committee since it was elected host city for the 2010 Winter Games.
The meetings, which took place Thursday and Friday, , allowed IOC to give the Vancouver Transition Team some background on its relationship with organizing committees, according to a press release.
The Vancouver team informed IOC of actions taken since winning the bid and their plan for becoming a full organizing committee.
Later this year, the Vancouver team will attend an orientation seminar to help them with their first year of preparation.
Vancouver's Games are scheduled to be under way Feb. 12 through Feb. 28, 2010. It was elected host city in Prague on July 2. More information is available at www.olympic.org.
