The body of a man who apparently fell while descending a popular canyon in Zion National Park was recovered by searchers Saturday.
According to a National Park Service news release, the man left to descend the Behunin Canyon trail Friday afternoon and was reported missing by friends Friday night. A search team of 16 people, as well as a helicopter, started looking Saturday morning for the man, who was found just after 12 p.m.
Behunin Canyon includes many rope rappels, with some more than 160 feet, and ends with a rappel into the Emerald Pools area. The man apparently fell during one of these rappels, acording to the release.
The man's name has not been released, pending the notification of relatives.
