I am a police officer. I also happen to be a Republican. I want Molonai Hola to be elected mayor of Salt Lake City, not just because he is the only Republican in the race, but because I am convinced he is the best man for the job.
I like the principles and the values that he stands for. I like his heart. Of all the candidates, he most closely represents my views.
Liberal Democrats like Frank Pignanelli and Rocky Anderson can always count on the backing of their traditional allies, labor union leaders. Tera Stokes is wrong (Readers' Forum, Sept. 2). The reason why Pignanelli won the backing of a particular labor union this year is not because he has such a great record. It is because he is the only liberal Democrat who is not Rocky Anderson.
