1934 ~ 2004
MURRAY, UTAH<! > -Norman LeRoy Banks, age 69, died Jan. 7, 2004 following a battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Born July 15, 1934 in Minersville, Utah, the seventh child of Armina LeFevre and Carl Benjamin Banks. Served an LDS mission to the East Central States. Married Donnette Peterson April 23, 1960 in the Manti LDS Temple. She died July 21, 1973 at age 37 leaving behind seven children ages 12 and under. He married Judy Morton Greaves, January 17, 1975. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She had four children that became a part of the new Banks family.
In 1989 after 29 years of employment, he retired from Eimco. His greatest love was talking to people, firing away questions and always making you feel like you were his favorite person. He never met a stranger. Norm had a wonderful sense of humor and would be first to pull a prank, tell a joke and laugh. His children were his pride and joy. He bragged about them to everyone. He taught them values of working hard, loving the Gospel and enjoying life. His posterity was his most cherished earthly possession. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his family is relieved he's free from pain.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, and children Julie (Jim) Thomas, Greg (Shawn) Banks, Linda (Mike) Jensen, Gordon (Lynette) Banks, Rob Greaves, Marcia (Steven) Johns, Laurie Greaves, Karma (Michael) Bentson, Sharon (John) Thomas, Nannette (Brian) Chaffin, Tammy (Jason) Christensen all of Salt Lake; 28 grandchildren and one on the way; brother George (Loretta) Banks, Cedar City and sister Remerse Wilson of Bakersfield, California. Ray and Paul Crane were like his brothers.
