Scientist to speak at U. about future of mining

The University of Utah will host a lecture by Robin J. Batterham, chief scientist for the Australian government and chief technologist for Rio Tinto Ltd., the parent company of Kennecott Utah Copper.

The presentation, "Mining in the Future: Sustaining Humanity in an Acceptable Manner," will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Room 102 of the Engineering and Mines Classroom Building at the U. The lecture is sponsored by the U.'s College of Mines & Earth Science and is open to the public.
