Eleanor M. Nielsen, long-time resident of Centerville, age 88, died on Jan. 6, 2004 in St. George, UT.

She was born December 26, 1915 in East Mill Creek, UT to Roland Carlisle and Esther Luella Capson MacKay. She married L Peter Nielsen on February 19, 1937 in the Salt Lake Temple, being sealed by President David O. McKay.

List of Hobbies and Accomplishments. She was an excellent cook. When you visited her house, it was expected that you would visit the kitchen and consume some delightful hand-made preparation of hers, often using fruits and vegetables raised in her garden. She incorporated several "old-world" recipes from her heritage as well as that of her husband. She did "netting" a skilled handwork that made beautiful handkerchiefs, doilies and table coverings. All her granddaughters had a "hankie" made for their marriage. She loved music, singing for many years in choirs at church, and making sure that her children could play instruments. Her greatest involvement was always her family, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Three (3) sons survive her: Lorin (Kathy) of St. George, UT, Elden of Las Vegas, NV, and Kent (June) of Dairyland, WI; two (2) brothers R. Russell (Mary) MacKay of Fircrest, WA, and John E. (Donna) MacKay of Holliday, UT and one sister, Luella MacKay (Harold) Newbold of West Valley City, UT; 12 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

Her parents, her husband Pete, two (2) brothers, A. Carlisle MacKay and Bryant MacKay, three (3) sisters, Jane Peterson (William), Jean Kershaw (Frederick), and Margaret Brown (William); and two great-grand daughters preceded her in death.
