Three women and one nonprofit organization who have advanced the cause of women in Utah will be honored Nov. 16 with the 2004 Pathfinder Awards.
Honorees are Hydee Willis, owner of Creative Expressions; Margo Salazar-Rillston, manager of Career Resources at the Salt Lake Community College Skills Center; and Phyllis LeFevre, owner of a business marketing telecommunications and public utilities service with the American Communications Network, and the nonprofit organization she help found, Utah Women's Alliance for Building Community.
The awards are presented annually by the Women's Business Center of the Salt Lake Chamber.
Also Nov. 16, Gov. Olene Walker will receive the 2004 Wells Fargo Bank Athena Award, sponsored by the bank's Women's Financial Services and given in conjunction with the chamber's Women's Business Center. The award will be presented during the American Express Women & Business Conference at the Grand America Hotel.
The annual Athena Award recognizes a woman who has opened the doors of opportunity for women in the workplace and beyond and honors an individual who "demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in business, provides valuable service by devoting time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community and assists women in reaching their full leadership potential."
