A Salt Lake woman was abducted by a male motorist while walking to a friend's home in the Sugar House area Wednesday.
The woman was released unharmed only a few blocks from where she was pulled into the man's car, Salt Lake City police detective Phil Eslinger said.
The woman, 26, was walking near the 900 block of east Browning Avenue (1420 South) at 7:19 p.m., when the man in a sport utility vehicle pulled up to the curb and opened the passenger-side door. The woman initially thought the man was someone she knew and approached the car, but the man then grabbed her and pulled her into the vehicle, Eslinger said. He kissed the woman and began driving, but stopped within a few blocks when the woman said she wanted to get out.
Police are looking for a blue or gray SUV, driven by a man between 22 and 29 years old who has a dark complexion, a thin moustache and a shaved head. The woman said the man was wearing blue-jean shorts and a T-shirt. She said he spoke with a Spanish accent, police said.
Anyone with information about the abduction is asked to contact Salt Lake City police at 799-3000.
