Obituary: Eric Matthew Wightman

1980 ~ 2004

Eric Matthew Wightman returned to his Heavenly Father October 8, 2004, at the age of 24.

Eric was born February 13, 1980 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Paul and Barbara Wightman. The fourth of six children, Eric always sought to distinguish himself. His life was dedicated to family and friends. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed being an EMT, and working with fire prevention services.

Eric will always be remembered for his strong point of view, his never-ending sense of humor, his infectious laugh, and his inquisitive nature ("Whaaaaat?"). All who were around him will remember him for his creative homemade birthday cards and his opinion about EVERYTHING. His talents with audio/video productions amazed all of us. He used all his talents for family and friends.

He had an unrelenting pursuit for uniqueness. We will all dearly miss his ability to create laughter all around. His continual Simpsonesque anecdotes and outrageous Star Wars collection will forever be treasured. Eric had so many wonderful friends, always with listening ears and helpful hearts. Thanks to you all! Eric will be so missed, especially by his family. He was such a special son, brother, grandson, and uncle.

Eric is survived by parents, Paul and Barbara Wightman; sister, Charree Haislip; brothers, Andy (Lisa), Micah (Fumiko), Danny, and Brent; grandparents, Harry and Phyllis Evans; numerous cousins; as well as uncles, aunts; niece, Kylee; and nephew Brady.

A viewing will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary at 4760 S. State St. Tuesday, October 12 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the LDS church, 9636 S. 1700 E. in Sandy Wednesday, October 13 at 12 noon, with a viewing from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens at 1950 E. 10600 S.
