Obituary: Hiroshi "Ted" Niwa

1932 ~ 2004

Hiroshi "Ted" Niwa passed away October 6, 2004 at the DeBakey Heart Center, Houston, TX, with his family at his side.

He was born August 28, 1932 in Helper, UT to Shozo and Teruchiyo Niwa. While attending school and participating in sports, he helped his parents with the family business, Central Cleaners. He graduated from the College of Eastern Utah and Utah State Univer-sity. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He married Katherine Keiko Wada in 1963. He was employed with Hercules, Inc., until his retirement in 1992. During his retirement, he worked at the Delta Center ushering his favorite Utah Jazz games. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, and fishing. He especially enjoyed being a new grandpa.

He is survived by his wife; and children, Michael, Wendy, and Jeffrey (Kathleen); granddaughter, Abigail; brother, Kayo; and sisters, Kazuko Okino and Pat Ninomiya; Aunt Alice Kasai; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; and son, Randy.

A memorial service will be held 12 noon Thursday October 14, at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 So. Highland Drive. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday evening, October 13 th
