Obituary: Violet Louise Waltemeyer Nielsen

"Grandma Vi"

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great- grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Violet Nielsen, passed away at her daughters home in West Jordan, Utah on October 10, 2004. She was 92. We know that she has had a glorious reunion with her loved ones who preceded her in death, particularly her husband, Ray; her sister and her parents.

Violet was born August 25, 1912 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Edward Mace Waltemeyer and Violet Caroline Harris Waltemeyer. She married William Raymond Nielsen on September 22, 1934. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She will be remembered for her warmth, wit, spunky spirit and the twinkle in her eyes. She loved people and was loved by everyone who knew her. Her door was always open and visits always included wonderful fresh baked pie and hugs. Friends always left her home happier for the visit. Vi loved the Lord and served Him in various callings and quiet acts of kindness. She also taught many young wives all over the valley how to make pies and bread.

Survivors include: children, Donald E. Nielsen (Hisayo), Gilbert, AZ; Susan L. Thomas (Russ), West Jordan; Linda K. Rice (Joe), Huntington Beach, CA; and Nancy A. Young (Reed), Gilbert, AZ; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 15, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. in the Midvale 6th LDS Ward Chapel, 8171 South Jackson (255 West). Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Thursday 6 - 8 p.m. or Friday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

A special thanks to Julie, Lily, Tiffany, Amanda, Lori, Lea, and all the wonderful people at Hospice for Utah.
