1913 ~ 2004
Chester Fassio, 91, passed away at his home with his loving wife, Kay, by his side on October 7, 2004 after a long and rewarding life. He was born on May 19, 1913 in Diamondville, Wyoming. He moved to Hunter, Utah with his parents, James and Delfina Enrietti Fassio, in 1915 after a family tragedy. This site was to become the home of Fassio Egg Farms which is in its fourth generation of family management.
Chester attended Whittier and Monroe Elementary Schools and graduated from Cyprus High School. In 1942 he married Katherine (Kay) Uzelac. They enjoyed 62 years together and had three children Paulette, Dick and Kristine.
Chester was a charter member of the Granger Lions Club, President of Utah Egg Council for six years, and two years as President of the National Egg Council. He also spent two years on the American Egg Board. He spent 11 years on the Board of Intermountain Farmers and 6 years on the Salt Lake County Farm Bureau Board. In 1966, he was named "Poultryman of the Year". In 1992, Chester was inducted into the West Valley City Hall of Fame. He and Kay were honored with the Judge Memorial Catholic High School Award of Service in 2000. Chester served on the Board of Alpine Country Club and is a Past President. He also was a member of Jeremy Ranch Golf Club Board of Trustees.
His incredible generosity and compassion were shown by his support of Judge Memorial Catholic High School, St. Francis Xavier School, St Joseph's Villa, Madeleine Choir School, and Holy Cross Hospital to name a few.
He is survived by his wife, Kay, daughters, Paulette (Fred) Tedesco and Kris (Mike) Kladis, son, Dick (Joy) Fassio, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren, brother, Silvio (Ann) Fassio, and sister, Lucille (George) Strelich; and many dear and loving family members in Ozegna and Rivarolo, Italy.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, October 14, 2004, 10:00 am at the St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 1385 E. Spring Ln. (5000 So.). Family and friends may call Wednesday 6 8 p.m. at the church with the Holy Rosary to follow the viewing. Committal Valley View Cemetery, 4335 W. 4100 So.
