7/14/13 ~ 10/8/4
Betty M. Yamaguchi, 91, passed away peacefully at home, Friday Oct. 8, 2004, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She was born July 14, 1913 in Portland, Oregon. The daughter of Sukeichi Yoshitomi, father and Ito Nakadoi, mother. Married Joe Norishiro Yamaguchi on January 4, 1941 in Vancouver, WA. She was a member of the Salt Lake Buddhist Church.
She was employed at the Hotel Utah for 30 years as a housekeeper and recounts, proudly, wonderful stories of famous people she met while working; such as, Art and Dotty Todd, Phyllis Diller, Jack Benny, Elvis Presley and numerous other celebrities who stayed in her designated rooms.
She will be remembered by her family and friends for her kindness, generosity and concern for others; but mostly for her eternal optimism, despite hardships, as she always said,
"I do my best." <! >
She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and going to Wendover.
Preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister and her husband.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanie Yamaguchi and Lucy Harr, who helped with her care, lovingly, like her own daughter.
Funeral services will be held October 14, 2004 at 12:00 p.m. at Salt Lake Buddhist Church, 211 West 100 South. Friends may call at the church 1 hour prior to services. Cremation ceremony will be held immediately after the services at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple.
