University of Utah Hospital executive honored at conference

Richard Fullmer, executive director of the University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics, has been named the Distinguished Healthcare Executive of the Year.

The award, presented during the Utah Hospitals and Health Systems Association's Fall Leadership Conference at the Park City Marriott, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to Utah's health-care community. The award is co-sponsored by UHA and the S.C. Phippen/DePuy Co., a supplier of orthopedic medical products.

As executive director, Fullmer oversees the operations of all U. hospitals and clinics. He is responsible for the overall management of approximately 4,500 employees and for the operations and financial management of the university's 425-bed academic hospital, 50-bed cancer hospital, 90-bed psychiatric hospital and their associated clinics.
