MANTI — A dog search team found a hunter from West Valley City on Monday morning after he was reported missing the day before.
Martin Alvarez was elk hunting with his brother and a friend on Sunday near Indianola, Sanpete County, and North Skyline Drive, a Sanpete County sheriff's statement said. Alvarez separated from his brother and friend but never met them for lunch as planned. About 4 p.m., the sheriff's office was called, the statement said.
Sanpete County search and rescue volunteers looked for Alvarez until 10 p.m. Sunday. The volunteers started again early Monday with the help of sheriff's deputies and search dogs. A dog team and its handlers found Alvarez about 10:30 a.m., the statement said.
Alvarez was transported to Sanpete Valley Hospital in Mount Pleasant for treatment of hypothermia. He was expected to make a full recovery, the statement said.
