Obituary: John Wilson

Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather

John "Richard" Wilson, 69, returned to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, October 9, 2004.

He was born February 11, 1935 in Park City, Utah, a son of Jack William Wilson and Dorothy (Langford) Wilson. He graduated from Park City High in 1953. Richard was inducted into the Army on October 14, 1954 where he served in the Korean Conflict, where he served as a radio operator. He was received an honorable discharge on August 3, 1956.

Richard married Mary Catherine Perry on April 26, 1968 at home in Willard, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on April 26, 1975.

He served in different auxiliaries in the LDS church, mainly as a teacher and was a scout leader.

Richard worked as a Commercial Artist for 20th Century Sign Company.

He loved photography. In his younger days he was an avid snow skier, and he didn't mind being known as a crusty curmudgeon.

Surviving is his wife, Mary Catherine, Salt Lake City; three children, David Alan (Intisar) Wilson, Palos Verdes Estate, CA; Dana (Mike) O'Neal, Georgetown, TX; Suzette Wilson Prevo, Sandy, UT; five grandchildren, Pierre Basmaji, Eli Wilson, Shauna O'Neal, Riley O'Neal and Felicia Prevo. Also surviving are his mother, Dorothy Wilson, one sister, Barbara Sanchez and one brother, David James Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Wilson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Brookshire LDS Ward Chapel, 3487 South 1300 East, Salt Lake City, UT.

Friends may call on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gillies-Petersen Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City and on Saturday at the church from 11:00 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.

Interment will be in the Willard City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans of Box Elder County.
