Obituary: Orville M. Ward

1910 ~ 2004

Orville Milton Ward, 94, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 13, 2004.

He was born August 15, 1910 in Elba, Idaho to George David and Laura Rohlfing Ward. He married Mildred Tyler on August 23, 1932. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.

Orville grew up in Declo, Idaho and attended school there, afterwards studying at the Utah Agricultural College, now Utah State University. In his early years, he was employed by C.C. Anderson in Boise, Idaho, Sears and the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Most of his career was spent working for Filtrol Corporation in Salt Lake City. He and Mildred moved to Woods Cross, Utah and in his later years, served as custodian for the LDS Church, which he loved very much. He and Mildred retired in Woods Cross in 1982.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred; four children, Wayne (Maurine) Ward, Covington, WA; Yvonne (Gary) Leishman, Farmington, UT; Caroline Ward, Woods Cross, UT; Lane (Julie) Ward, Orem, UT; 20 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include one brother and two sisters, Newell (Celia) Ward, LeRuth Tyau, and Elaine (Craig) Mayfield. His parents, one brother, two sisters and one grandson preceded him in death.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Orchard Cove who cared for Orville, and especially South Davis Home Health and Hospice.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 18, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment-Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, Salt Lake City.
