1914 ~ 2004
Meta Cornell Blackham joined her eternal companion, Eugene, on Oct. 12, 2004. They were married August 15, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Meta was born November 9, 1914 to Hollis Samuel and Margarethe Duerr Cornell. As a life long resident of Salt Lake City, Meta graduated from West High School. She was accomplished in many areas and developed endless skills throughout her life. She shared them generously with the Young Women Improvement Association, Home Culture Club and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She dearly loved her years of association with the young women of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her service went above and beyond the ordinary. Her association made many life long friendships. It was the desire of Eugene and herself to serve a full time mission and they were able to honorably serve the Lord in four genealogy missions. Two were served in Salt Lake City. The others were in Independence, Missouri and England.
Meta also loved to travel and took advantage of her opportunities, especially to visit her children as they moved around the world.
Her eldest daughter Linda Nalder, her brother Hollis Samuel Cornell and her sister Eveline Cornell Neuffer preceded Meta in death.
Those who love her and miss her the most are her children Gayle Harkness, Jeanine London, Jeanette Gorzitze, Marsha Siddoway and Scott Blackham. Also included are her devoted sister Ilene Balliet, 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
