A 1-year-old girl is dead after an accident near Camp Williams Friday afternoon.
The girl, her father and 4-year-old sister were in a car traveling northbound on Camp Williams Road near 16700 South at about 4:45 p.m. when a southbound pickup truck veered into their lane.
The family's car and another northbound car both tried unsuccessfully to avoid the truck, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Rosie Rivera said.
The 1-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 4-year-old sister was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
Their father, 28, was airlifted to University Hospital in critical condition.
An infant and four adults from the other vehicle were all transported to local hospitals in serious condition, Rivera said.
The 1-year-old's name has not been released pending notification of the family, River said. The truck driver was not injured. Rivera said the accident is still under investigation.
