Initiative 1 too expensive

The claim put forth by the proponents of Initiative 1 that its cost will only be $14 per family per year is disingenuous. That may be the average increase in sales taxes, but it does not take into consideration what will happen to property taxes or the cost of housing. Some of the funds raised under Initiative 1 will be spent purchasing development rights so that large tracts of land will not be available for development. As the supply of land is artificially reduced, prices on available land will increase considerably, raising the cost and increasing market values for everyone, driving up property taxes.
