WEST VALLEY CITY — A bomb squad on Tuesday detonated a duffle bag with suspicious contents that turned out to be clothing.
About 4:30 p.m., a woman called police because her boyfriend had left her apartment with a duffle bag that he told her contained explosives. Police found him near 3300 South and 4100 West in a park. They cordoned off the park and told the man to leave the bag in the middle of the park and walk toward them. He complied only after he was threatened with a police dog, West Valley Police Lt. Randy Lloyd said. The man, 35, was apprehended and transported to Pioneer Valley Hospital for an evaluation.
