Obituary: Elsie R. Hicken

1918 ~ 2004

HEBER CITY, UT- <! > Our dear mother, grandma, great-grandma and friend, Elsie R. Hicken, surrounded by her loving family, left her earthly body to return to her Father in Heaven, Wednesday, October 19, 2004, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She fought valiantly during the last year trying to walk again so she could return to her home in Heber.

She was born the daughter of Henry and Emma Marsing Remund, December 14, 1918, in Duchesne, Utah.

Elsie did beautiful needlepoint, and was a very accomplished seamstress and quilter. She took great pride in doing her yard work, flowers, and especially her roses. Her homemade rolls were the best.

Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in numerous callings through the years including Relief Society president. She leaves many kind and caring close friends in Heber.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Della, two brothers, Glen and Lloyd, and her husband of 57 years, Karl T. Hicken. Karl and Elsie were married on September 11, 1938, and later the marriage was solemnized in the Timpanogos LDS Temple. They had three children: Pam (Phil) Jones, Ann Harper, and Boyd (Brenda) Hicken; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 23, 2004 12 Noon in the Heber LDS 2nd Ward, 150 North 200 West, Heber City. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:4511:45 a.m. prior to the services at the LDS Church. Interment will be in the Heber City Cemetery.
