Obituary: Brenda H. Leatham Whitaker

1952 ~ 2004

Brenda H. Leatham, age 52, passed away peacefully at her home on October 19, 2004 after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by her greatest and most loving caregivers, Troy, Clayton, Angela, Amy and all of her family.

Brenda was born on May 9, 1952 to James K. and Norma (Jean) Healy at Fort Meade, Maryland. She married Ron Leatham in 1977, later divorced. They had two sons Troy and Clayton. She was a graduate of Olympus High School, the University of Utah in 1975, and had two master degrees from the University of Utah and a teachers certificate from West Minister College.

Brenda loved working in her yard, hiking with her friends, decorating her home for all of the holidays. She was a avid book reader and a talented artist. Through the years, she had many beloved pets, who meant a lot to her.

Brenda was a kind, loving and thoughtful person who loved all her friends, family and fellow teachers in the Granite School District. She is survived by her two sons Troy (age 25) and Clayton (age 21), her mother Norma (Jean) Osika, Stepfather LaMar Osika, Cheryl Healey (sister), and Jim and Joyce Healy. And her husband William Whitaker.

Brenda loved animals and is also survived by her loving cats Jake and Maggie. She is preceded in death by her father.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 11:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church 1975 South 2300 East. A Vigil service will be held Friday 7:30 p.m. at the Neil O'Donnell & Sons Mortuary 372 East 100 South where friends may visit from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to the Humane Society of Utah 4242 South 300 West Murray, UT. 84107 in Brenda's name.
